APPLAUSE Data Release 2 (applause_dr2)
Description
The APPLAUSE Data Release 2 contains metadata about photographic plates and data extracted from digitized plates.
The source catalogue contains 2.59 billion extracted sources. The majority of sources have their positions (right ascension and declination) calibrated with the help of the Tycho-2 and UCAC4 catalogues. The database contains 1.407 billion sources with matched UCAC4 designations and 182 million sources with Tycho-2 designations.
The APPLAUSE DR2 database is organised in 16 tables.
Along with the data we publish the version of the pyplate software which was used to process the scanned material.

Tables
-
Table of archives of photographic plates (applause_dr2.archive)
An archive in APPLAUSE is a collection of plates, logbooks, and extracted data that originate from a specific instrument. The archive table contains one row for each plate archive. Unique Identifier archive_id
-
Photographic plates as physical objects (applause_dr2.plate)
The table contains data on photographic plates or films as physical objects. An entry in this table does not guarantee that a scan of the plate is available. Unique identifier: plate_id.
-
Exposure time and observation time (applause_dr2.exposure)
Exposure time and observation time for plates. Unique Identifier exposure_id
-
Table of extracted sources with calibrated magnitudes (applause_dr2.source_calib)
Sources with calibrated magnitudes by pyplate. Calibration against UCAC4 and APASS. Unique Identifier source_id
-
Sub exposures (applause_dr2.exposure_sub)
Sub exposures provide exposures, which were split into n fragments. Unique Identifier exposure_id
-
Coordinates, magnitudes, and time information (applause_dr2.lightcurve)
This table contains calibrated magnitudes, sky coordinates and source designations, exposure and observation time. Unique Identifier source_id.
-
Scan table (applause_dr2.scan)
The scan table registers all ingested scans of the photographic plates, giving sizes, etc. Unique Identifier scan_id
-
Logbooks table (applause_dr2.logbook)
Information about logbooks from various archives or observation sites. There is no direct relation betweeen a plate and a logbook. Unique Identifier logpage_id
-
Logpage table (applause_dr2.logpage)
The logpage table contains data on individual digitized logbook pages and also images of plate covers/envelopes. Unique Identifier logpage_id
-
Logpage table (applause_dr2.plate_logpage)
The plate_logpage table stores links between plates and logbook pages / plate envelopes.
-
Processing table (applause_dr2.process)
The process table contains data on pyplate"s processing of source extraction and astrometric calibration of plate scans. Unique Identifier process_id
-
Extracted sources (applause_dr2.source)
Table of extracted sources. A row in the source table corresponds to an extracted source from a plate scan. Unique Identifier source_id
-
Astrometric solutions of plate scans (applause_dr2.solution)
The table contains astrometric solutions of plate scans. Unique Identifier solution_id
-
Photometric calibration (applause_dr2.phot_calib)
This table contains data on photometric calibration that was carried out on whole scans and in annular bins. Unique Identifier calib_id
-
Photometric color term (applause_dr2.phot_color)
This table contains data on the determined color terms. Each row in the table corresponds to a scan of a photographic plate. Unique Identifier color_id
-
Fitting parameters for photometric calibration (applause_dr2.phot_cterm)
Fitting parameters for photometric calibration. This table contains standard deviations of residuals for each fit. Unique Identifier cterm_id
-
Photometric error estimates (applause_dr2.phot_rmse)
This table contains photometric error estimates for individual magnitude ranges in annular bins. Unique Identifier sub_id
-
Healpix table (applause_dr2.healpix)
HEALPix center coordinates (nside=256, nested scheme)
